Hello,

I nipped into PC World on the way home from work to check out the TF300 as, following help from you guys on here to choose it.

A chap working there explained that the micro SD slot is not a true storage slot in the way that I could not run films directly off it. Instead, he explained, that I would have to copy the films on to the internal memory first and then run them off that.

He then explained that this was the case with the TF300's USB port on the keyboard dock as well.

He explained that this was the case with all tablets as you would otherwise always go with the smallest internal memory and just top up with external SD cards.

Is this all true? (I had never even thought of this and as far as I know my Smartphone can run things of external memory) and more importantly, if it is, is there anyway round this with a hack of some kind?

He is taking ****

I have TF300T and use micro SD on the tablet and play movies off of that and also use the USB port to power my external USB3 1TB HDD

Micro SD on Tablet
Full Sized SD card on Dock and
Full Sized USB Port on Dock as well

Sounds like rubbish. As above, I play films on my TF101 from usb stick in the dock, SD card in dock and micro SD in the Tablet.

Thanks for that guys - should have known better than to trust a salesman's comments. Bloody irritating thing is was that I was about to buy the tablet before he mentioned that and I thought I would hold off for another day to check things out on here.

I did have a quick look at this on the web and it seems to bring up lots of sites relating to Sony. I wonder if one of the Sony Tablets cannot do this and the salesman just applied this to all devices.

Whilst we are on the subject, I am also going to buy a 32 Micro SD card for the tablet that I didn't just buy. I know they come in difference classes - 2, 4, 6 and 10 (I think). Do you know whether there is a minimum class that the TF300 uses?

Great - thanks a lot.

I have just noticed (by strange luck) an advert for 32GB Transcend memory(Class 4). Would that count as quality or should I stick with something I have heard of like Sandisk?
