Hello,

Looking for some advice. i think im pretty set on the tado smart thermostats.

ive previously installed wireless thermostats before (nest x 3) where i wire in a receiver to the boiler and then just put a wireless thermostat in a hallway etc. so all easy peasy.

ive moved into a new property with zoned heating (upstairs and downstairs) and i have 2 wired thermostats on the wall (hallway and master bedroom)

do i just but the wired thermostats from Tado or can i wire in the wireless ones?

You need to use the wired thermostats - they will driectly control the zones. You need the extension kit to then control the boiler (the full kit comes with the extension kit)

Sounds exactly like my setup on which I tried Tado. Contrary to the post above, you can just drop in the wired thermostats in the same place with the same wires without the need for an "extension kit". The thermostat works by opening a zone valve, and that zone valve then sends a signal to the boiler once it opens via a microswitch inside it.

You will need the internet bridge which comes with the wired thermostat kit for control via your phone, and I'm wondering if that's what @adamau5 meant.

I will second this. Two zones, wired thermostats. Bought two tado wired controllers, direct drop in replacement for the existing Danfoss ones, an internet bridge (and I think you'll also need this if you use Tado TRVs as well? It's the hub that links it all together) and a bunch of TRVs. A lot simpler than I thought it would be. Their setup process is great.

taking the back plates of the existing it’s looks pretty easy to be fair.

Amazon have the wired starter kit for 99 and I can get an add on wired for the 2nd zone through octopus for 78.

Wondering how worth it , it is to get them?
