Its that season when the frogs hump anything that move and subsequently the local duck pond is filled with the stuff. I've rescued some from being ditched down the drains as the frogs seem to breed a lot.

Anyhow I've got some in a milk carton in the window of my dorm, without the milk. Anyone got any tips on keeping Tadpoles. It makes me feel young again and I class them as cheap Goldfish.

That's asking for a disaster.

I can see you coming home drunk, fancying a swig of milk and having a slurp of frog babies.

If my burps come out as ribbets in the morning, I know I will be guilty. Its starting to hatch already so will see. May feed them bread once they start getting mobile.

Make sure they stay fairly cool. Ie don't leave them in direct sunlight. Also get a handfull of grime from th fishpond for them to shelter under and feed from. Im not sure quite what they feed on, but im sure a bit of fishfood couldn't do any harm. We've just had a large blob of frogspawn appear in our pond the other day. For some reason not many of them lasted to full tadpole stage last year. Probably due to my stickle-backs eating them all.

Edit; Not sure if they eat bread, but stickle-backs sure do. :)

they will need something bigger and better than a milk carton. As has been said keep them out of direct sunlight, when they hatch you can feed then on crumbled (low sugar) cornflakes but they are much better off in a pond. We have an old plastic sandpit which filled with water and it turned into a frog orgy one year  . quite a few survived into full frogs with no help from us at all.

they need a pond. nip down to B&Q, get a small pond liner and dig a pond in the garden, add some plants and a bit of cover and put the tadpoles in there. A large bucket or old washing up bowl will be OK for the time being.

make sure that the tadpoles (and little frogs) have some cover from the sun and cats etc. they will hoover up most of the slugs in your garden as a bonus ;)
