Hopefully going in for my grade at the end of March, I know most of my pomsay now and am happy once i get in to it. Im a white belt, Just looking for some advice on the free sparing bit of it. I have heard you only get about 30 seconds to a minute to do this in the grading. In my class all the other white belt are tiny so really just back off when we do this even when i stop and let them attack there no where near me. Last time though there was a new guy joined an he put up more of a test. what i want to know is free sparing is none contact yeah, so how do i get out of a corner? say if he keeps attacking and im stepping backwards to get out of the way how do i get back at him?

Also i thought you wasnt allowed to punch in this? im I allowed to block?

TIA

is this WTF or ITF?

dont know much about the WTF tkd

but ive recently started ITF and my mates been doin it for about 4 years. The first belt is supposed to be ridiculously easy and not somethin to worry about.

As far as fighting tactics, your ultimate goal with that problem should be to not let yourself get cornered in the first place. Go for a strong offensive yourself, if your too defensive you'll always get cornered by the bigger guys.
