Can't even begin to imagine how crushed he must feel. No shame in losing an Olympic final and winning silver. But to lose it literally in the last second like that .... dunno how it won't haunt him for a long long time.

Someone give that guy a hug :(

He got a silver which I am sure given time, he will look back on with pride.

Should be extremely proud of himself but to get that close, I cannot imagine how hard that would be.

So so close for Lutalo!

Must have been heck of winning kick, reverse turning kick to the head in the final second, will watch a bit later.

This is probably down to my lack of knowledge about the sport but I thought I'd picked up that you have to make contact with the headguard for it to score, it looked to me like Muhammad had caught/blocked it with his arms so it wouldn't count. Obviously I'm wrong on either my interpretation or in spotting where the contact was made but I'd appreciate if someone with more knowledge could explain.

It must be horrendously disappointing for him to be so close and to think that running away as someone else did in their final could have secured him gold but it is still a great result to get a silver. Congratulations to Jade Jones on a well deserved gold and here's hoping that Bianca Walkden can add another medal too.

And Cho has made the final, GB are guaranteed at least 65 medals, equalling the London tally!

Walkden was so close to making her final, lost in sudden death, she goes into the repechage where a bronze medal awaits the overall repechage winner.

The headgear and body armour has sensors in it which automatically register a score if hit with sufficient force. For the body it seems to require rather a lot of force. For the head it seems only a slight brush is necessary. I think this technology got introduced for London 2012 and has been used since.

Muhammad did partially block the kick, but the opponents foot still got through just enough to score. With hindsight he should have just run away, but easy to say from the comfort of the sofa rather than with adrenaline pumping around your body a split second from winning.

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't mean to imply criticism of his strategy - it was more noting the contrast where another competitor had run away from their opponent for the final seconds of their bout to protect a lead and that was fine.

Well done to Walkden for the bronze and unlucky to Cho for losing to a last minute kick in the semis and then narrowly losing the bronze medal match.
