hi guys was driving the other day and i must have been doing 60mph on the way to work at about 6pm and from no where i see this mitsubishi warrior about 2 foot away from my bumper, i only have a Peugeot 106 and i drive sensibly but i couldn't make him leave more space even slowing to 30mph and put rear fog lights on, what can u do in this situation cause if i had to do an emergency stop he would have gone straight into the back of me.

Did you have a wobbly wheel?

It's not a new thing, and it won't go away. Just ignore them and carry on driving, if they are annoying you or you feel uncomfortable just indicate left when safe and let them past.

not much you can do except keep slowing down. Once you get below 15mph they either get the idea or go arouind you.

Climbed onto the roof of your car, jump through his windows and smash his face on the steering wheel, throw him out the car, then jump back on top of your car, climb in and drive away.

If you wouldn't do it, Chuck Norris would.

Drive along with your left foot resting on the brake pedal to flip the lights on, works most times.

Failing that, if you hate your car just plant the anchors and say you saw a cat. Insurance companies normally pay out in the car in front's favour. :D (seriously, don't try this lol)

Slow down, get out with a weapon of your choice... people like this need to be taught a lesson. Either that or brake really fast- claim whiplash etc... and possibly be able to get a new car.

It's a win win scenario.

I had a van nearly crash into a hedge behind me the other day because he was following too close and not paying attention, I had to stop for someone turning off and obviously my awesome brake setup caught him off guard. Idiot.

The last thing I'd want is to be in a 106 that's being rear ended by a Mitsubishi Warrior.

Some don't though, they get arsey and follow you etc. Not the most sensible of things to do.

As for what to do, ignore it, if he rear ends you, it's on him, unfortunately his vehicle would 'walk' away better off than yours.

I wouldn't want to crash in my 106 into anything = death. Saw a 5 series hit the back of a 106 yesterday outside work, 106 was destroyed at the back :/

i was told in my driving lessons to slow down untill you are comfortable the car behind can stop, if they are that close its 5mph thats their problem not mine.

My point was more aimed at the idea of some people being nice following and then not being so nice. ;)

As for slowing down, yes, I would, but not a great deal, if I'm doing 60mph I will not slow to 15mph (let alone 5mph), that's stupid and reckless.

I tend to go really slow, if you can time this with some traffic lights and just make it through then that means you've won times infinity.

Besides the highway code states to slow down if a car behind is following to close.

I've found, mean tailgaters have much less respect for just-turned-red traffic lights than I do. Hence anything i'd sneak through, they'd just follow behind through.
