and I'm just stating that I'd be very skeptical about buying from them, there isn't anything patronizing about that
What has that got to do with anything? If you're getting one then shop around and find a tailor that suits your style - what someone else has shouldn't have any relevance. I'd just be rather cautious about services that use third parties or that might be made to measure masquerading as something else that is all.
That honsartor place looks good I might give them a call up and take a drive there. Failing that the King and Allen also seems quite good and easy to get to in London for me. Thanks for the links.
Buying and off the peg and getting them altered seems like an ok idea. But I'm not sure about that route, I'd rather get some measured and made to fit rather than getting some adjusted and having it get screwed up.
Sure 2 grand could buy you a very good suit but I'm not wanting to pay 2 grand for a suit. Having a bit of a look around I think that 650-750. Is reasonable bracket for what I'm after. I don't need a full "dress suit" I'm after a couple of nice fitting suits for work and social events.

I know the owner personally and his attention to detail is spot on. You'll be in good hands.
To be honest, you can go anywhere any get a suit and have a small change a tailor can mess it up. I'd personally always go and see them in person, that way they can size you correctly and then you can see first hand the material swatches, suit styles etc... As a picture can show you one thing but when you see the material / style in real life it can be underwhelming.
A true tailored suit should fit you like a glove.

Thats probably because hes gone though the process of a bespoke suit fitting (skeleton baste etc) only for you who hasn't gone though the process at that tailor to cast doubt on whether he knows the difference. Its hardly surprising he thought you patronising.

all depends what its for, work then something off the shelf, dress to impress then theres nothing like a proper well cut suit.
a lot depends on your physique to pull it off, i myself always look like a bag of crap whatever suit i wear but look at an old film with roger moore in and the guy looks amazing in any suit hes wearing

If you actually read properly you will see that it was me that pointed out they have tailors in Asia - I was under no illusion about their business model and pointed it out. I also made it clear several times that I was arguing not the point of perceived quality but arguing against your view that they are probably not bespoke. As having been through the process with them twice, I know that they are.
I think you know that.
Anyway who are your preferred tailors? That may be a more useful contribution. (Or should I use quote marks around 'tailors' for further passive aggression points

Try the signature wool suits at NEXT, in short length sizes. You may find they fit very well and you can get two or three, with two sets of trousers each (essential) for the possibly rather excessive amount you were preparing to spend on one suit. http://www.next.co.uk/men/tailoring/signature-suits/1
All yo uave to lose is ordering a set and trying them on, if not you can simply send them back using the return slip.
This many times over but buy a good Quality suit and get it adjusted.
I have spend 1k plus on bespoke suits and to be honest the result from my 300 CK suit was probably better
