Wheel has done well to survive a good whack like that. It's probably made from a very strong (and expensive) magnesium/aluminium alloy and if it managed to hold air after a deformation that big then it has out done itself. Doesn't seemed to have caused any crack initiation in the material either.

Damn I hate that I've just done a dissertation on composite wheel design

He left to form Drivers Republic with Dickie Meaden and Chris Harris. I don't believe on good terms though as he didn't go back (like Meaden) after DR went belly up.
