Yo,

As you can see, it takes me ages to log in. My other account (mum's) is an instant log-in with this SSD, but my username takes an age. I'm not sure what it could be, I remember it took longer after I installed Gigabyte App Center but I disabled that from running on boot and it still takes ages - anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Shiv

Stop you mom from using your pc - seperate profiles will slow boot times down anyhow.

Your braver than I am allowing anyone else to use the pc

Has she logged out or simply "switched user"?

At first I was gonna ask why your mum has an OcUK account, then I reread :D
Uninstall all yer junk, toolbars/addons for yer browsers, all those messengers that are "essential"
Strip down bootup (msconfig)
Run ccleaner, regclean
reboot

Depending on your processor you can set it to use more than one processor at boot.

Go to start search for Run

Type msconfig in Run

Select the Boot tab

Select the Advanced options button

Select Number of processors.

Set to max amount (e.g. for me its 6)

Click okay and they apply :)

run msconfig then go to startup tab to customise which programs are run on log in (bound to be junk in there)
You can cut back the services too but probably not worth exploring as a first step, can have undesirable results.

Done that, hasn't seemed to help - it was set to one, now set to 4, no difference, thanks anyway!

Did that before mate, not going to touch the services haha

Meh, nothing is going to stop her really, and I didn't see a massive difference between when her acount was there and when it wasn't. I'm not always on my computer, so may as well let someone else use it :)

Okay fixed, uninstalling Gigabyte App Centre made it so I can't even see the welcome screen anymore haha, looks like it's going bye bye :)

Be carefully doing this, I had my max cores set to 4 from when I was using a 2500k. When I switched to a 3770k I couldn't get all 8 threads to work and took ages to work out why. When I disable max cores to boot with all 8 threads would show up in windows.

Are you using different wallpapers on the accounts? theres a known bug in Windows 7 where certain plain tiled backgrounds can add ~40 seconds to login time.

Yeah, they will be different wallpapers, but family pictures etc on mum's and on mine it's just a load of cars flicking through lol. All sorted now anyway, thanks for everyone's help!!
