Takeshi's Castle

Any of the games that involve landing on a platform are great. I also like the Sumo games, seeing some weedly little Japanese fella have to wrestle Animal or a real Sumo wrestler, also this guy:

The japanese get great stuff like this, and we get poor imitations like Wipeout.

Love this show, always makes me laugh, even though it's pretty old now
(1986 - 1989 originally in Japan).

Question- are those the only episodes ever made of the show? Or did Japan do more recent series in the 90s/00s?

Used to get drunk with a couple of mates and literally spend all night watching marathons of this on Challenge TV. Great stuff -- some of the Bridge Ball hits are absolutely brutal!

This is my favourite-

Also there is ball-cupping where they have to catch a ball which rools down a pinball like structure. It's genius because even if you win, you have to get covered in mud. It's lose-lose:D

The honeycomb maze and its other variants, just because its classic. Theres some others that you don't see as often but can't think what.

Interesting how the maze ones change and become almost totally different games, for example the square maze seems somewhat more slower and strategic whereas people run through the honeycomb one.

Ninja Warrior is also great. Shame they don't do Takeshi's castle anymore or a decent UK equivilant, suppose health n safey n all.

There is one mental one, it's similar to high rollers, they're on a giant rolling pin that goes down a slight incline -so they have to run against the direction it's moving, then half way down, the incline gets way steeper

I've only seen a handful of people complete this

The sound effects on bridgeball are awesome, sound's like a cannon :D

High Rollers was my favourite along with Bridge Ball, Skipping Stones and The Gauntlet.

The Americans call this something else and have a story to go along with each episode, can sometimes be amusing and you don't have to listen to Craig Charles say Wazzack a million times :p

That is the hardest one by a mile. One of them does it though!

Yeah Wipeout is great too, but what i love about Takeshi's Castle is that almost all of the games on it can be done without being hurt/injured or dangerous, but the contestants do them in a dangerous way anyway.
Like on skipping Stones. If you want to you can just go really slowly and make sure you get across, but they don't do that they run as fast as they can:D

Same with Knock-Knock. just walk up to the door and see if it is real or not. But no, they run head first at it at full speed. LOL

Anything to do with that show (esspecially Craigs commentary) is beyond doubt ridiculasly awesome. Anyone who claims otherwise is an idiot. Brilliant show. Laughed every time. Good old Japs. They know how to do it.

I've only seen one so haven't seen all of the challenges. Has anyone actually completed the challenge and broke into Takeshi's Castle?

I think there was something silly like nine winners out of the 140ish episodes they filmed. Only seen around 3 or 4 myself. I adore Takeshi's Castle, if not for the bonkers challenges but for Craig Charles commentary.

Knock Knock, Skipping Stones & Bridge Ball are by far and away my favourite games. Oh don't forget Wipeout! Onto the board, over the whale, onto the platform, onto the board, over the whale. Its easy!

"He's wearing a snorkel, he is going to need it cos he's crap at Skipping Stones."

Have some Bridge Ball
