Hi there.

I have an interview with Openreach tomorrow and was wondering if im allowed, and if so, is it bad to take some notes to an interview?

Cheers,
Dan

I personally would not do this. I have never done this at any interview I have been to. I just think that they will see it as negative and it will hurt your chances.

I disagree, but it depends on what the notes are about. If it is questions you woud like answered, then go ahead. but not for notes on the actual interview / company to help with answers.

I always take a folder into interviews that has three copies of my CV for the interviewers and a notepad for me to make notes on throughout the interview in case I think of any questions. I also write a few questions down on it before I go in.

Might be why I didn't get the job in the last three interviews I've been to though.. :(

Learn your notes before hand, it's more professional.

But also take a copy of your CV and cover letter and as Street says a notepad for taking notes is handy as well.

Yer, I think it is a little risky to be honest and it will completely boil down to the opinion of who is interviewing you. Some people will see it as being very organised and well researched while others may see it as a negative. A little bit of a risk to take.

I just take a blank notepad tbh...

I've never bothered with the bring a copy of your CV thing, every interview I've been to they've had a copy already.

Yeah, if you've sent them a copy and they don't have it to hand during your interview then thats a poor reflection on them, not you.

If they can't keep track of your CV then don't expect them to keep track of your wages. :p

I take (took) notes to all my interviews. Shows your are organised and interested. Just dont sit there with your head down in your notes! Just a glance for things like random figures about the company, turnover and the like

Ask in the interview room, before it starts, if you are allowed to take notes on what they say

I take a folder with CV, References and the job description and notes in the back. I usually get to the location early and have a quick read through the notes. I also have a list of potential questions, mostly memorised.

Don't listen to those that say don't take notes with you.

Take the minimal info you need, like CV, research on the company and role you are applying for in a neat folder.

Don't take reams of paper, just the essentials.

Also, there is no harm in taking notes about the interview, there maybe questions you were asked that you were not prepared for answering that may come in handy for a interview in the future.

Good luck.

P.S. Like above, it cannot hurt to have some questions written down you may want ask.

It's more to do if they refer to your CV in anyway you've also got it to reference to.
