I think you will have to import the AVIs into iMovie, convert them to MPEG2 and then burn with iDVD. But I may be wrong - iMovie may only accept Quicktime movies?

Of course I do like OS X and I was trying to make a point if you aren't going for such a great operation system, where would you be with? Vista?

I agree. Note how few posters in this thread are actually trying to convince him to stick with Windows (or any other non-OS X OS for that matter).

It can be daunting coverting to a different OS after being so used to windows for so long! I just need to make sure it can perform the functions I need berfore I make the purchase

It is better but I think some people do go a bit overboard when they're on a "new mac" high.
