Talk Talk and 3rd party routers - any issues?

I've been asked by a relative to pop around tomorrow and help him setup a wireless network.
He has purchased a new Netgear router and would like to use this with his Talk Talk connection.
Are there any issues with using 3rd party routers with Talk Talk?
Will username/passwords be located in welcome letters or more difficult to find?
