Anyone got Talk Talk Fibre?

thinking of upgrading as its only going to cost me 5 pound extra a month.

£29.45

anyone had any experience with it? hows the latency? what speeds you getting with it?

been with talk talk for 17 months and I cant fault them so far, but any other suggestions are welcome

Yes, I have it.

I get 70Mb down and 20Mb up, pings to google.co.uk are around 7ms. The line has been pretty much rock solid in the 8 months I've had it, maybe 2 days of iffy latency in the evenings but that was soon resolved.

The supplied router is poor so you'll want your own.

What do you use Princey? I am hopefully getting fibre enabled fairly soon in my village thanks to BDUK. I will upgrade the moment i can.

TT Fibre user here to, little or no issues in the year I've had it installed, support is terrible but if you are a TT customer you already know this.

As previously stated the supplied router I got was poor and replaced in under a minute with an Asus N66U which works flawlessly.

I use the Asus N66U which works wonders and I get pretty much full throughput in all areas of my house.

Nice, looks good. In tandem with a BTO modem i assume, or do you somehow bridge their router? :)

is it worth me spending £150+ on a router when all I have is one PC and PS3 in one room that are rarely used at the same time. would I even notice much difference?

think im going to go ahead with getting it. only going for the 38mb one though cant justify the extra fiver a month for just me using it

I have been trailing Talktalk's super router which is as good if not better than my old Billon 7800n router but with the added bonus of the vdsl modem built in. It works the same as the BT openreach modem/router setup which it replaced.

I don't know if there supplying them yet with the fibre package but if they are you should be fine with it, the only Talktalk router I rate that I have tried.

Just had a (shall we say) difficult conversation with talk talk as i wanted to know what access the engineer needed to face plate as this is mine..

To change the filter is a doodle but the faceplate would need a helpful engineer and not one of those other sort ;)

So question is did they just change the filter?
Cheers
Simon

Do you live in some sort of squat or is that a garage/dirty outbuilding of some kind  That looks minging!

I think they self install anyway now, so i doubt you will get an engineer at all :)

There is usually a top up reservoir in there for fish tank holds 5 gallons of water so doesn't come out often, clean and tidy now though. It's definitely getting an engineer visit, though I think it's mainly cabinet side.

I think its all cabinet side now isnt it? I am hopefully moving to TT fibre soon and i am not expecting an engineer visit from what i read. I understand that it is self install at your premises now, they will just ship you the "Super Router" and a pair of microfilters the same as they would for an ADSL provision.....
