Anybody use them? Just had salesmen around who said they have just converted my exchange for the plus service. Up to 24meg etc etc. Just wondering what they're like for gaming online.

I'm with Opal (or Talk Talk Business as it will be renamed shortly).
I too am on a Talk Talk LLU Exchange.
I get 18MB Down and 1MB Up.

The connection always feels fast.
Gaming is excellent, browsing is excellent, downloading is excellent.
Had about 2hrs of outage in the 12 months I've been using them.

same here for talk talk.

had about the same 2hrs in 2 years outage.

i get roughly 5.5meg which im happy with and always the same speed and never drops.

supposed to be diabolical custonmer service if you have a problem...watchdog is apparantly investigating claims they have been taking payments for cancelled contracts and talk of hefty fines being levied by ofcom/whatever it's called these days

xilo/uno use the LLU service and *should* be a better bet!

Cheers for the replies. I'll see what they're like and decide if it's worth changing from o2 or not.

O2 LLU is regarded as one of the best ISPs in the UK, low pings, good stability and reasonable limitations, if price is your motivator then you get what you pay for in the ISP game, stick with O2.

As long as you are not on the new packages in which case there are pretty crap

The legacy products are still good though.

I currently pay for the "up to" 20mb package but don't get anymore than 10mb.
The talktalk salesman said I would get more than that. So i'm just going to see if I do or not. If not then i'll just sack them off.

Does that happen? I can't see it myself:p
But....if I do get a better connection i'll stick with them. If not i'll cancel within my 30 day trial period.

That's what they said when they came to my house. We'll see....

I got the same visit a year ago when our exchange got unbundled and i was offered upto 12mb.
Previously i was on 2mb AOL so you can imagine anything was improvement.

My download speeds have been great, roughly 11mb, ping is great in games and i have no real issues with the service. Any faults like disconnects have come though my dodgy belkin router.

I'm on TalkTalk LLU (albeit not out of choice), have quite a long line and get around 5mb down but have no problems with gaming via xbox live even on wireless and the connection seems stable enough.

You're a nutter if you want to change from O2 LLU. If anything you should be moving to Be* if you want an awesome service.

The salesman is clueless. You won't sync at a faster speed using TalkTalk.

He possibly would if he went from ADSL to ADSL2+. In my neck of the woods BT are ADSL up to 8meg (I sync at 8) whilst CPW LLU have installed ADSL2+ and by all accounts I should get approx 11 - 13 meg

He's already on an ADSL2 product...

Going by the results so far from speedtest their broadband isn't as good as o2's.
I was getting this before

And now i'm getting this

So slower up and download and higher ping. I'll try it again after midnight for a fair comparison.
Looks like I may be cancelling with them after only a day!
