Talk Talk - Real Customer/Real Results

I haven't noticed any difference going from Plusnet Fibre to TalkTalk.

Speed is the same.

The only thing I've had to complain about is their mobile service, the speeds in my area are terrible compared to EE. I called up to cancel and found myself talking to a lady i could barely understand, who seemed to take it personally that i wanted to end my contract, it being such a great deal and all  (only if it ****ing works).

I'm considering whether to go over to TalkTalk from BT. Currently on the 80/20 service and pay around £40p/m and will prob just go to the 40/2 service which is free for 12 months and then £10 for the remainder of the 18month contract. Also looks like there could be some topcashback or quidco too.
Every bone in my body screams "don't do it!" but from what I hear TT's fibre is generally fine and other than a few hours online gaming a week and the odd film on Netflix etc I'm not really making the most of the connection.
Thoughts chaps?

The service will be OK but you want to avoid foreign customer service. If you've got a reliable line there shouldn't really be a need to deal with CS, if you've got a potentially dodgy line then you want to avoid TalkTalk or probably any other ISP with non-UK CS - life's too short.

TalkTalk's poor rep is largely carry over from the ADSL days and it's CS/complaints issues. VDSL is largely the same no matter who you use when it works, CS is improving and complaints are falling for TT.

Also looks like the churn estimates following the security breach were way off, 101k of subscribers jumped ship, that's circa half of the 'best case' figure that was being banded about - the cynical part of me thinks it's amazing that a figure comes out that's 2-3x the actual figure and now people are impressed that it's so much lower than anticipated.

Either way nothing wrong with TalkTalk at present as a provider - BT's CS certainly isn't any better from personal experience and this is backed up by the complaints data.

I'm on fibre large for £10 a month for 18 months, paid the line rental upfront so that's a bit less for 12 months. Had some weird issues to start with, first few days I was at about 78mb and 17mb then it kept dropping to mid 30's and about 10, I'm now sat on a steady 72mb and 19mb so pretty happy as I'm doing a load of uploading of video files which helps (legit of course :) )

With TT*. Never had a problem with the actual service (phone and bb).

*However I am only with TT still because they point blank obstructed my move away to Sky. I told them I was leaving after the price rises last year, and they agreed (twice) to let me migrate away.

Sky, however, said that TT were blocking them from taking over the line. They tried a couple times, and both times said TT were locking the line so they couldn't take it over.

I'm still with TT because until now I didn't want the hassle of spending hours on the phone to clear it all up. But it seems they intentionally lie about allowing you to leave them, probably hoping that people will give up trying.
