talk talk worth it?

Small bump :)

So with talktalk currently offering free unlimited fibre for 12 months (38mb and £17.50 line rental) on an 18 month contract (so £10 a month for remaining 6 months) are there any reasons not to go for this? Its certainly cheaper than Sky who is my current supplier.

If you search for my Talk Talk thread here you'll see my results when I moved to them a month ago.
Still very happy with what I'm getting and even happier it is £15/month less than BT.

i am currently with talktalk, was double billed at the end of December probably been on the phone to them for just about 6 hours to get a refund[after being hung up on multiple times and lied to about callbacks], only its not a refund, its a credit towards my next bill... will defiantly be leaving once my contract is up.

I see stuff like this all the time.

I think normal CS is passable for foreign call centres. But I had a bad experience yesterday.

Needed a PAC to move my TalkTalk mobile number, called the 0800 mobile support number(mobile phone owners have been locked out of their online accounts since October - have to phone up), waited around ten minutes in a queue then was told to call another number - a UK based call centre.

Called the new number around 11.30AM, recorded message said we're busy you may have to wait 20 minutes, we're much less busy between 12.30-4.00PM. So called back at 2PM, message said you may have to wait 20 minutes. Actually I had to wait 60 minutes on hold before speaking to a human being(who was not it the UK but South Africa). It eventually took 1 hour and 8 minutes to get my PAC.

It is pretty obvious TalkTalk provide just the basics for paying customers but if they think you're going to cancel they don't really care how they treat you.

If you are happy with the service your getting you can always speak to renewals. They often can match other deals for new customers. That's what plusnet did for me anyway.

LOL - all these non-customers telling you no. Gotta love the internet.
Listen to these people!
They don't know, they form an opinion based on "something they read" - but really - you should be listening to them.

Speaking from experience, 2 family members moved and I've had to help them. They are an awful company, one borked their line profile. The other failed to transfer the landline number so that's an ongoing complaint.

I've been with BT, Zen, Sky, Virgin, Talk Talk and now Plusnet over the years and Talk Talk were great for me. Certainly no worse than any of the others. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Plusnet too.

The TT TV was awful though....

Maybe they're non-customers because they've had TalkTalk in the past/know someone who does who has no end of problems?

My GF had TalkTalk in her flat. The internet was slow and the router would drop out and need rebooting about once a week. The TV box was dire; slow, hard to navigate, unreliable, terrible picture quality.

When she left when she moved in with me, they carried on billing her for another 2 months of usage (they removed the charges after phoning and complaining). They kept sending her reminder emails and letters to return the box (she did so before the contract ended and had it confirmed that they'd received it). She's just had another £75 bill come through, even though the account was terminated in September, and nobody in their CS team can figure out where the charge has come from.

So no, I wouldn't consider them unless they were literally the only ISP available (at which point I'd probably move house ;))

thinking about going with talktalk as well. Will have a convo with plusnet first see if they can match the TT offer
