The Alfa is knocking on 50k miles now and is just 2 years old (06 Reg) so has 1 year warranty remaining.

I've always thought that I'd like to replace the car with an E60 so am after some info.

I need a diesel for the economy, what are the combined mpg figures for the 520d 525d and 530d respectively and is there much performance difference, remembering I just do 100 miles a day up and and down the M6 (50 mils takes about 60 - 75 mins)

Annual running costs (exlcuding fuel and Insurance) on the Alfa are:
2 x 12'000 mile services = £350 x 2 = £700
2 x Front Tyres = £250
Tax = £145

How ill the BMW fair in this regard?

What Spec do I want, SE or Sport? Sport looks better but SE sounds like it would be a better ride on the motorway. What does it take to make an SE look like a Sport in terms of parts?

What options should I be looking for? Ideally I'd like bluetooth, Nav, Dual Climate, Heated Seats, Front and Rear Parking Sensors. Which of these are standard or came as part of a "pack"? Also what about wheel choices?

Any opinions on interior choices?

Pictures, can people post some sexy looking E60's? I know a lot people don't like the style so please no spam! Looking for a black one!

Onto the last question and that is regarding budget.

I suppose I could sell my car for around £11-12k so what should I be looking to spend on a decent E60? With the mileage that I do would I be better off considering a newer, higher mileage car and shift it on after a year? If I do how much of hit will I take on this?

Anyone who takes time to read and respond, thanks! :D

Not discounting anything at this stage.

SE's seem a lot more common than Sports, what are the major differences between the 2 and what sort of cost / parts would be required to make the SE look like the E60

The E60 grew on me on the looks front.

So what sort of budget do you think I should be looking at and what would be the suggested stratergy with regards to replacing it bearing in mind the miles I do?

Can anyone post some good standard side by side shots of the visibile difference to between the SE and sport?

Also going on my typical usage can anyone give me a ballpark servicing and tyre cost per year?

The top car is an SE and the bottom one is an M-sport.

What sort of price range are you looking at spending?

Excellent pics, thanks very much! Bookmarked the link as it looks like it could be useful!

Budget would be sub £20k but I'm not sure where to pitch it as again i do high mileage so I'm not sure at what level to aim it. Do I find the cheapest best car assuming it's taken the steepest part of its depreciation or do I buy higher? Advice sought on this point.

What's the upshot on going LPG?

If I was to go for a petrol and pay for an LPG conversion how does that effect MPG and is £2k about the going rate for the conversion?

LPG is getting more and more pointless if you ask me.

You can't use the Channel Tunnel, LPG is nearing 60p/l in places round here now, you lose boot space or your spare wheel and you'll be filling up every other day.

I don't intend on using the Chunnel, 60p vs 106p would depend on what the mpg on lpg is I suppose. The GT doesn't have a spare wheel so I'm already used to no spare!

If it's a no go then that's fine but as I've said with my mileage I need to balance out the best way (best = cost effective) of getting through my daily life.

wow, the cruise control on these cars is amazing, its actually useful, I did a 100 mile trip on the motorway in medium traffic without actually using the gas or brake pedal, the cruise control is able to apply brakes, if you pull forward the cruise stalk and hold it, it will apply the brakes!! it also gives you a digital readout of the speedit's set at!

Very impressed by it.

The Alfa cruise does that already!

Going to have a look arounds for some 520d sports and take some test drives.
