Hi all

My parents have TalkTalk broadband with a Huawei HG520B wireless router. Over time, the connection eventually dies off, and no websites will load. Checking the router status page, it reports as being connected, but there's simply nothing being sent back or forth. The issue is resolved when the router is rebooted.

Before I head down the path of changing the router, does anyone have any suspicion that it could be an issue at TalkTalk's end?

Many thanks

Michael.

That could well be the case. If you want a reliable internet connection look elsewhere - if the exchange is opened up for Talktalk then surely there must be other companies available
o2 for example

So rebooting the router fixes the problem every time, yet the first suggestion is to change ISP?

Come on guys, use some common sense.

Is anyone downloading torrents (or using anything that makes a lot of connections i.e. wow updater)? classic symptoms of a router thats been hit with a ton of connections and not cleaning up properly eventually running low on resources.

Nope there's just the one computer connected to it.

I'd try a different router first but if your having issues with TalkTalk then the best place to ask questions is the TalkTalk Members Forums (http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/). The tech support on there is MUCH better than the telephone support :)

I know! I wouldn't bother calling them - been there, done that. However, my dad can't register on the forums because there is a problem with his phone number/account number combination, so he's currently awaiting a response from the forum webmaster before he can even sign up!

I would try a new modem, i had a new new belkin do that bought a netgear instead and had no issues since.

And im on talk talk. Also the past week theyve had issues which have just cleared up.

Got my 2Wire router hooked up to it now and it's spot on!

I had a Huawei 520 with the same symptoms. Talk replaced it with a D-Link and all was well. I've since replaced the D-Link with a Netgear DGN 2000.
