Compromised, but thats to be expected from such a range of focal lengths.

I think mrgubby has one.

quickly jumps into thread.

Had one for a year now and I'm very happy with it .

It only leaves the body when I'm doing indoor stuff & then it's replaced with a 50mm/f1.8 :)

lol oops :p mrgubby do u have any pics for examples please

A few I've already got on my webspace linky1 , linky2

They're all heavily compressed for the web , if you want I can dig out some from different focal lengths at full res.

lol dam that first pic just decided for me :p great shot m8

Thanks (was hand-held as well :))

It'll never be as sharp/fast as a lens with shorter range or L glass but as a reasonably priced walkabout lens I'm very happy.

Ps. I paid £199.99 in the high street for it last year

will have to look around coz i have seen it for that on some etailors

I found it on a UK website , checked stock then printed out the advert. Waited until the "high street shop" was busy then went on about bla-bla price match bla-bla expensive, until they finally gave in :D

I got one when I got my DSLR and have to say I'm happy with it so far

I haven't got any shots of a distance yet, for close work it fairs reasonably well

EDIT: I also got it for £199

looking at this lens more on sites it says its equiv to 45-480mm on film is it just this lens like that if not what would that make my sigma 70-300mm would it be the same or would it be 480mm at the high end

That's due to the cropping as the camera doesn't have a full sized sensor ( you need to multiply the stated zoom by around 1.6 I believe but it's dependant on the camera you use)

that is the case with all lenses so yes the same would apply to the sigma

*note I may be wrong, but that's what I remember from reading a few Photography sites

thanks for clearing that up if that is the case then there would be no need in order the tamron as i might as well save up for longing and look at getting an L lens from canon or something along the lines that i can use as an alrounder as well as astrophotography
