Are loud tappets common on Clios, in particular a 96 registration (86K)?

Do they cause any damage to the engine?

Probably just need adjusting.

Had mine adjusted about 2 months ago & it made quite a large difference noise wise.

Can they be adjusted? I heard the hydrolic tappets cannot be adjusted?

Have you changed the oil recently? If not there might be a lack of it to the tappets.

IF it is the tappets odds says they are simply worn, if they are hydralic they can't be adjusted.

But you sure its the tappets i bet its the injectors firing that you can hear.
