So having a white car and recently the road new my work has been "sprayed/stones glued to it" my car had a fair share of tar/bitumen or whatever other substance they used to glue the new surface in place

after washing my car this evening (rinse down / car shampoo) a fair few of these marks still exist on the surface, thus do I make up a stronger solution and redo the work or do I need to take another approach to remove then?

Excellent cheers fellas, as you can tell from my absence WD40 was out and tar removed, sections rewashed etc!

Now it shows all the scratches ;)

Nice one. I only wish it would get rid of stone chips!

I managed to clonk the rear bumper while loading stuff into the boot and take a chip out of the paint. I'm furious with myself, normally pretty careful. Tried touching up with Vdub stone ship repair but you can still see it.

Not sure how good these "Chips Away" type touch-up companies are, I suspect they make chips less obvious rather than doing an invisible repair. Mines metallic and I'm told metallics are a pain to blend.

Getting close upto the paintwork on mine you can see how well it wasnt looked after :(

I have to say its probably a lot of work to get it back to a decent standard which I just cant afford (stone chips / scratches etc)

Have never used wd40, that's a good tip. As mentioned above the autoglym one is good.

I used a paints4u stone chip kit on my pearlescent black car and was pretty chuffed with the results. It is a bit of a faff, requiring cleaning, priming, painting, several coats of lacquer and then sanding and polishing back. Each step is pretty quick but you have drying time inbetween.

Before getting the chips seen to I would use some sort of colour restorer or scratch remover then clay bar, polish and wax. There are a few claybar kits you can get, the clay bar will also lift the tiny tar deposits and dirt left behind, even if you can't see them they are there.

Cheers chaps, I'm not rushing out to get them looked at - first up I'll probably get it polished up properly see what it looks like then :)
