task bar covering bottom of window

hey think this is in the right section.

strangely today, on my laptop, when i maximise a window such as IE or anything really, it fills the whole screen but.... it continues to go under the task bar at the bottom of the screen. now untill today it would do the same as everyother computer i have and fill the screen but the boarder would stop at the top edge of the task bar.

any idea why this is happening and how can i get it back to normal? it's quite annoying having the bit at the bottom under the task bar so i cant see it.... espically as thats where the hotkey bar is for WoW xD

F11 key will put your window to windowed, have you got lock task on or off (right click the task bar)

but then the window goes over the task bar, i just want to window to take up the space of the screen, minus the task bar again...

and taskbar is locked. its odd as its only done it since today and i haven't changed anything that i know of....

how odd.... went to shut down my laptop and it wouldnt restart or switch off.... so i help the power button and then turned it back on and now everything is back as it was...
crysis over... but stilll..... very odd, and i didnt even notice that my gadgets had gone also
