Hi all im having a problem with windows task scheduler it wont open as it says it has corrupt files i have tried everything i can find on google with no joy.
So my question is are there any other free task scheduler software out there that you would recommend?

Thanks

have you tried checking windows files for corruption?

open command prompt as a admin and type sfc /scannow will scan and fix any issues if it can, if it cant fix them try again in safe mode

Use sfc /scannow

Failing that, take a system backup using Macrium Reflect (store it as an image file on an external drive)

Then try this.

http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

Bit of a shotgun-blast fix, but I've used it as a last ditch attempt many times in the past (instead of formatting) and it's worked wonderfully.

Only run it in Windows safemode. (tap F8 before Windows boots up)

ty sfc /scannow came back with no errors.
So ill try bledd's suggestion thanks now time for me to muck my machine up hehe

It's never caused an issue for me, but it does process a lot of files. Run in Safemode

Create a backup first using Macrium Reflect.

nothing seems to be working grrr i made a backup with macrium reflect then done all repair/scan options with the tweaking.com software, it found errors and fixed but still no joy with opening task scheduler.

I dont want to but i guess i will need to start from fresh again?

What's the actual error that you're getting? Does it give more details than files are corrupt.

Does it work if you access it via the management console rather than using the shortcut?

eg. Run 'mmc', click File->Add/Remove Snap-in... Select Task Scheduler from the available snap-ins list and click Add (select Local computer when asked what computer to manage) followed by OK to load it.

Ahh ok so i didn't realize i could keep clicking OK it would jump to a different file name same error, if i keep clicking approx 30 times i can then get into the scheduler ill have to test it now.

Does that mean i can find those files and delete them?

yes i did try all of that before coming here should have said i tried it, but it wouldn't let me delete them??

however my tasks are running when i want them so all is good, thanks
