Hey folks, for those of you who have a Tassimo machine, we have recently gotten one at work, and the water capacity is fairly big compared to the usual ones (1.2L) are you 'supposed' to change the water daily like you would a kettle? Just that we could use it over a couple of days rather than refilling it every day unnecessarily - and the kettle boils all the water all the time hence the need to change it, whereas this Tassimo only heats what you use?

Why would you even need to change the water in the kettle every day?

The one at work, at home we don't as it's filled as much as we need, but at work it gets filled in the morning and boiled several times throughout the day, thus the quality of water lessens and impairs the taste of hot drinks (just like one of those giant water pot things)

maybe once every month would empty it out and clean it,( like an espresso machine or britta water filter jug ), stops there being any mold(slime) build up in high areas
which are not regularly soaked, and base beneath uptake; it does get warm too promoting growth.

Agree always change kettle water unless you arrive and someone just made a coffee 1 minute ago.

I usually put clean water in mine when I'm about to use it (unless I've already used it that same day).

As above, give the tank - and the nozzle/piercer unit - a decent clean every so often, and also run the cleaning disc (takes 30 seconds) through every week or two as it'll help to stop it getting gunked up and spoiling drinks.

I'll put fresh in mine if its been stood for a couple of days had to get some descale tablets too last year the red error light came on, it says after 400 cups on you tube for de-scaling but I'm sure i haven't got through that many pods since owning it.

you guys must live in dirty england. where the water is rank.

there should be zero need to change water ever in a kettle, unless you haven't used it in 2 months. boiling kills mostly everything and there shouldn't be anything harmful in it in the first place. it's drinking water.

as for a coffee machine. why not put in as much as you will use in a day or two? then top it up every other day? so if 1.2L is going to last 3 days then. fill it up to half the tank. simple as that really.

i fill my water bottle with water and leave it on my desk and drink it 4 days later. i'm still alive and it tastes fine.

again coffee machine should never need water changed as you put in what you use within 2-3 days. drinking water should be fine if left for a week or so.

coffee machine does need cleaning though once every 6 months or so. use one of the descaling powders into the water tank and descaling capsules, etc.
