Tattoo Advise

Right im considering getting a tattoo done, My partners name but i want it done in japanese, Now i was wondering if any one has reccomendations of places or should i get a google translate and take it with me?

I ask cause i know most tattoist never get the spelling right anyway and mess it up and as its permanent id want it right. So if any one has done anything similiar how did you go about it?

I'm all for tattoos, I think they are great. However are you really sure getting

a) Japanese writing (as you say, spelling? This is very difficult in Japanese...)
b) Your partners name (A partner can change. If they were to cheat on you, do you want to carry that scar forever?)

Are a good idea?? Really the answer is no

Find someone who can speak/write Japanese and ask them, or you'll end up with random words.

Also: Don't do it.

I know allot of people would disagree, Its not something im sold on doing as when im 80 it may look horrible anyway due to age and old man skin! Just wonderd if people had done it and how it went.

A good friend of mine got the name of his gay lover tattooed on his arm in Chinese when we were at school. If that was not funny enough he then realised he was straight and ended up married. To make it even funnier it does not translate at all and actually says artistic wind (or something approximating that).

I still take the micky out of it 20+ years on. I say do it, what could go wrong?

Yes my spelling sucks doing it in my iPhone atm is my excuse

anyway like I said I know many people disagree with names but they don't always have to be done in tacky ways e.g massive fugly writing across all your arm etc. Thanks for the few serious replies I got !
