Sounds exactly right to me, and the listentotaxman calculator would agree:
If you knew you were going to earn under the personal allowance for this tax year, you can fill in a form to say as such and get charged no tax.
EDIT: The tax year ends at the end of this month. Why do you think you'll be able to claim tax back because you're not working next year?
