Taylor Swift appreciation thread

I've liked her since i seen her on Jools Holland a few years back.

Amused me at the time, seeing this little blond pop princess on a show that usually only features "real" musicians.

Saw her at radio 1's big weekend and I've only really heard "shake it off" but she was really really good. Dat dress as well.

I think you mean this time, she was very country back then. And she must have wrote this song 10 years ago!

She is often misunderstood by people who put her together with other pop artist who doesn't play an instrument and more importantly, write their own music. She writes a vast majority of her songs (at minimum co-wrote, I don't think she has a single song that doesn't have a writing credit), in that regard, she is in more control than most.

Not to mention she has a share in her own record company, her dad invested $100,000 into it when it got started when she was the first artist on the roster.

I knew all that, my point about her dad invested $100,000 in the company shows.

But there are plenty of rich kids in america who wants to make it, how many do you see that does, and how many do you see that sustains it. The latter being the important part.

It takes money to break into it, but you need to music to get the fans and get the sales.

But then plenty of rich kids in America aren't attractive white women who can carry a note. Nor have a stake in a label to support them. Her lyricism is banal and cliche such that she picks up and drops fellas like a pair of shoes so she can write a song about it because she's had so little in the way of actual adversity in her life to influence her song writing. While real artists who haven't got **** and struggled through real **** don't make it because they don't have the money to break into an industry that is doing nothing but trotting out and selling trash because people will buy it. Doesn't matter if it's from country to R&B. Isn't it funny how Meghan Trainor is suddenly on the rise the last couple years with the growth in the "fat acceptance" movement. Twitter hastag meta-data harvesting. What's trending. What are the kids talking about. How can we get their money? #BeautifulAtAnyWeight, Jones get on the phone and get me a fat chick, that still looks hot enough that you'd do her after a few pints.

Jealously is a bitch and most of her fans are teenage girls who most likely don't want to sleep with her.

The bit about her dating, when you are famous, the papers writes about everyone you have dinner with as your boyfriend. She even wrote a song about it, it's what Blank Space is about.

As for her writing, that's your opinion, the opinions of New York Times, Rolling Stones magazine and literally countless critics and awards says otherwise but you are entitled to your opinion.

"Jealousy is a bitch"?? Please. I have absolutely no desire to be rich or famous. I couldn't deal with it. Most of her fans are teenage girls who wish they were her because she's selling them a dream of what they wish they could be (no different from glossy coffee table mags throughout the West) and selling guys the dream of possibly ****ing her (which I would do so disappointingly for her). No different from any other highly marketable pop commodity. They were doing the same **** with Motown and Nashville, the thing was those black artists on Motown and Stax actually didn't have ****, and experienced adversity. The likes of Bill Haley and Johnny Cash doing Nashville were depression era born who hadn't had **** either.

Rolling Stone hasn't been good or relevant since the late 90s. Countless critics probably wish they were Taylor, or were ****ing her. And they'll give awards to anyone. Hitler and Stalin were nominated for ****ing Noble Peace Prizes. They gave Obama one for being black. Sorry, I mean a president. No, I mean a black president. Awards ceremonies are one great big industry circle jerk were rich people come together to look fabulous, fulfil contractual obligations to model particular fashionable items for the evening and generate media interest to maintain relevancy for the next period of however long before the next set of awards ceremonies roll around.
