Taylor Swift appreciation thread

I think you mean this time, she was very country back then. And she must have wrote this song 10 years ago!

She is often misunderstood by people who put her together with other pop artist who doesn't play an instrument and more importantly, write their own music. She writes a vast majority of her songs (at minimum co-wrote, I don't think she has a single song that doesn't have a writing credit), in that regard, she is in more control than most.

Not to mention she has a share in her own record company, her dad invested $100,000 into it when it got started when she was the first artist on the roster.

Yea, that's the show, she stood out like a saw thumb. I'm pretty sure it was Love Story i heard first though.

I didn't mean to imply she wasn't a real musician, merely that at the time (first time i'd ever seen her) she appeared every bit the pop princess.

Tacky/smutty lullaby crap. It's like the intrusion of one of those horrific beauty pageants in the US into the music industry. It annoys me how supposedly intelligent people tune into this garbage and accept it as the zeitgeist. Hey ho.

Even if it is a couple of shades above the usual dross, ultimately it has that same polished radio-pop sheen to it, so it's hard for me to listen to it without going WTFBBQAWFULOVERPRODUCEDSOULESSNONSENSE.

Just listened to Blank Space - it was deeply annoying.

Saying that, I gather she is a nice person, so I don't dislike her.

I listened to a couple of her albums this afternoon, inspired by this thread, to see what the fuss is all about. The music is perfectly serviceable pop, but the best bits just remind me of Shania Twain, and Come On Over is a much better album than either of the Taylor Swift ones I listened to.

She is fit, mind you.

Which albums did you listen to?

Hyde Park layout is all standing, we were in about the middle. Was pretty bleurgh having to tiptoe to see anything, plus they had these annoying VIP tower things either side which meant having to mess about when she spent her time down the runway.

Definitely preferred the production/feel of the Red tour show, but was still fun. Odd crowd.

I missed the Red Tour, saw Speak Now, that was good.

I feel like this one, from the photos I've seen, the stage design is very much stream lined, very simple compared to previous shows.

Kinda, like I say she had this huge catwalk she'd go up and down on, and naturally it went up in the air and turned sideways, that kinda thing, but it's still an excellently crafted two hour show. Plenty of costume changes with videos inbetween of all her successful white friends telling us how great she is. Spent an age talking between songs in the middle of set like she normally does, crowd were eating it up. Just felt a little plain here and there.

Setlist was pretty much 1989, even played New Romantics and You Are In Love which were a treat. Songs off other records were Love Story, I Knew You Were Trouble and We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.
