A parking ticket arrived in the post this morning from a company called TCP. I've apparently overstayed my welcome in an ASDA car park by 50 minutes. I had no idea they even had parking restrictions!

Has anything changed in the last few years or am I still okay to file it in the bin?

How are these companies able to get your name and address simply from your registration plate? Are they able to access the DVLA database somehow?

I had debt collectors after me for a ticket from a company who was chasing me for £70 for overstaying my welcome in a retail park in Leicester.

Will this affect my credit rating?

I actually told them to **** off on the phone and to take me to court. This was quite a while ago now (February seems to ring a bell), and nothing heard.

They will take your house, cars and any children to sell on as slaves.

Might as well move to the moon and eat cosmic dust, your life as a hum is now over.

No.

Chances are, you received a threatening letter from a company claiming to be a "Debt Recovery Agency", but were in fact part of the same private parking company (PPC) that issued you your ticket.

Everything about PPC tickets/letters is designed to scare you into paying them.

I was under the impression that the only parking tickets you should pay attention are the ones from the council and traffic wardens.
I got one the other day because Reading has changed its town centre parking from free after 6:30pm to free after 8pm.
