Team Fortress 2 Performance?

hmm... does anyone else find when playing of 2fort on a 24 player server. that when you run out of the battlements and into the middle where the bridge is , it really lags or something as my fps seems to go down to the 30s really quick when i go outside .

It'll likely be the water reflections

With everything maxed out on my rig it still slows down with a 4Ghz E8500, which is just insane.

I actually came to the conclusion I might have to compromise some of the graphics settings to stop the framerate deterioating too much in crowded areas.

As mentioned, over clock your CPU. My FPS is pretty much solid with 4870 + E8400 @ 3.6 with max detail, 1680x1050, 2xAA, 16xAF.

He's not saying you don't get 60FPS, he's saying when there's a lot of action on screen it must drop below 60FPS. For example, when you're trying to cap a point, and there's flames and rockets flying all over the place.

Bottom pic there's 7 enemies on screen, and was under heavy fire although at the screeny moment there was a slight lull. FPS is rock solid for me. What reason do I have for lying about getting a solid 60fps?

Most stressful TF2 demo ever!

^^ Guaranteed to make your system crawl!

It'd be nice if you could run fraps at the same time and post your min, max and average framerate here, as well as the settings you ran it at.

I can pretty much guarantee, whatever the settings, it will drop below 60fps. :D

I am not sure what valve or nvidia have done. But before I never use to have a problem playing tf2 at 1680x1050 or higher. But lately where as some peeps say they only get 30 fps in certain areas I only get 10 fps...

It doesn;t happen all the time once in a blue moon. I run XP SP 2 atm but before when running it on vista it was mostly fine although it use to crash before you could play it.

But the framerates were consistent and never a problem.

This is with a dinky e8200 @4ghz and a gtx 280. On my 4870 it use to run worse. As I find the 4870's have lower min FPS than the 280.
