Had an email, which is also viewable online: http://createsend.com/t/r-A13333F97AFC664E

And an announcement from Sky

But .. whats this?

Scottish_FA: No "historic agreement" on Team GB and no discussions with BOA. Seeking clarification!

Lols.

edit!
Scottish FA: "I am absolutely astounded that they have put out this statement. I know nothing about any such agreement and we want nothing to do with this tournament.

Welsh FA was on the radio too, their stance is the same.

Welsh FA: "We are not part of any agreement. The FA have no authority to speak on our behalf - they do not represent Wales whatsoever and that's a fact. We have not discussed this at any time recently."

We should kick the Welsh teams out of the English leagues then and have them play in their own naff leagues if they want nothing to do with us.

Exactly. I don't understand the hate for England generally by Scotland and Wales, and even more so in football.

Why wouldn't the want their plays to play for GB? Do they not thing that Wales and Scotland are a apart of Great Britain?

Edit: Besides Bale and possibly Giggs, who would we actually take from either country if they were taking part?

They feel that if they allow a team GB, then FIFA will argue that GB should only be allowed one rep with UEFA and FIFA, weakening their position in the world of football.
(Currently NI, Scot, Wales and Eng have 1 rep each)

Because despite assurances from FIFA to the contrary, fielding a Team GB would be seen to undermine the independence of the four football associations. You would have thought the FA would have learned to be a bit more questioning when dealing with FIFA.

It's pretty outrageous that the FA are seemingly making an attempt to railroad the other associations into accepting a Team GB. All of which completely vindicates the SFA's cautious stance in my view.

Theres no stance, its just the nations being petty, everyone involved has said if we put out a proper GB team it will in no way effect Wales/Scotland/NI team's in other football.

ANyway who cares, it will be as mismanaged as all other England international sides, with the side almost exclusively made up of English players anyway.

WHy don't the FA just get on with it and field a GB team with all English players, or even better, ask Bale or someone to be a part of it and make the Welsh FA look like idiots when they refuse him permission.

It's nothing to do with hate for England. But it is complete arrogance and a complete lack of respect that the English have done this.

Fifa were asked of the obligations in terms of a GB team being fielded with players from all home nations FA's together and whether this would affect said independent nations in the world of football.

Fifa refused to give any guarantees that by fielding a GB team the home nations would not be questioned in terms of their national identity in football.

If Fifa came out and said, yes field a GB team and there is no way that your national teams will be called into question after the games then that would be absolutely fine.

However there are nations I'm sure who believe being part of the same island and being known as the United Kingdom we should be represented at the World/European stage as one nation.

Hate for England? The only body in the wrong here is the FA for the blatant lack of respect shown towards the other nations.

Despite assurances to the contrary there are clearly some people within the Scottish and Welsh FAs that are worried a GB team would be a step towards losing our individual national teams. The chances of that happening are tiny but it would certainly set a precedence and could be used as leverage should FIFA ever decide that there should only be one GB team.

The announcement today makes Team GB even less likely as it only served to antagonise the Welsh, Scottish and NI FAs.

Tbh when you think about it it's pretty nonsensical that the home nations are allowed to compete separately, you don't see the USA entering 49 separate teams for each state, and the states have far more autonomy and recent history of independence than any of the home nations.

Also pretty sure FIFA have said about a dozen times that a Team GB comprising the home nations will not affect the home nations' independent status, it appears that the home nations want a guarantee that their status will never ever be questioned, which is just daft given that Team GB or not, there is a legitimate argument for the removal of their very privileged status.

Its a game, it doesnt matter at the end of the day, there should either be a UK wide football league and association and national team, or "team GB" should be broken down into England, wales etc etc etc.

But then that draws into question the viability of welsh and Scotts athletes as where would the money come to fund them?

Whats worse (and it has caused issues in the Championship..)
Welsh teams retrospective punishments (for abusing a ref, for example) and appealing red cards isnt handled by our FA or the PL, but instead the welsh FA.
Same with bankruptcy rules and point deduction for administration...

Its caused quite a stir in the lower leagues, they've been known to be rather lenient to their welsh brethren.

The FA*. I know its often convenient for home nations haters to lump the English people in with our organisations and governing bodies when there is an opportunity to bash us, but lets keep some perspective here.

The English *FA represent England. There is no general English people bashing from me going on here. :)

Do they? I think most people here in England realise just how out of touch the FA is, and how little regard they hold for the fans of the game. Can people in the other home nations not see it?
