Team of the Season

Ok I'm bored and wanted to get this up and give everyone a good crack at it before next Sunday's PFA awards where they'll name the 'official' Team of the Season which then might lead to influencing peoples selections...

Here would be my team of the season;

------------------De Gea------------------
Zabaleta--Ferdinand--Nastasic--Baines
-------------Carrick---Fellaini-------------
-------Mata------Suarez------Bale-------
--------------------RVP--------------------

would have liked to have got Michu in there but short of putting him in midfield in place of Fellaini* it was really a toss up between him and RVP and obviously I had to go with RVP for obvious reasons ;)

*on Fellaini I realise he's had the season he has because he's been pushed a lot further forward than where I have him but I still think he's a worthy inclusion

In total then I have 4 Man Utd players, 2 from Man City, 1 from each of Chelsea, Spurs & Liverpool and 2 from Everton :)

sits back and waits for that team to get lol'd to pieces :(
 
I'd have Guzan in goal, without him Villa would have been relegated by November.

I think that top 4 is pretty much nailed on. The defence is quite difficult, I can't really think of that many stand out defenders? Zabaleta or Rafael at RB?

So many feels! :cool: You didn't go for the age old 'four four ******* two!' :D.

Largely agree, I think De Gea or Minolet in goal.

Zabaleta or Samba Nevs MKII at Right full back. Zab has been a monster defensively where as Samba Nev has improved hugely this season, he's still much better going forward and is prone to poor positioning and decision making. Depends what you want from your RB.

Centre backs are interesting, I think there have actually been a number of very good players this year, Agger I think has had a good season (await Baz or Purdy to disagree), Jags has been fantastic, Nastasic has been basically incredibly solid and safe, Vertonghen has been very good for long periods, Ashley Williams and Chico Flores have both been very good this season, Ferdinand has shown his class at times, same goes for Vidic and Kompany, Evans has been very good, (although not done quite enough this season, I think Johnny Evans has been at very least as good as those three this season.) Bassong has been (imho) one of the few shining lights at what has been a pretty poor season for Norwich!

Left Full back? Baines, Evra has been better this season, Clichy and Cole have been 'ite, and an honourable mention to Danny Rose who has been ok for a very, very poor Sunderland.

Midfielders, fair play with Carrick he's been good and it's nice to see so many posters on here that support Manchester United not spend all season saying how poor he is :p. I think Arteta has been every bit as good, very tidy player and one of the good things about Arsenal this season! Mulumbu has been a real power house for West Brom this season at times, especially the start. Screech has been good, but he's played better the more forward he's been playing. Ki Sung Yueng has been very good too. Big props to Gerrard and Lucas too, who continue to be well, rather good. Honourable mention to Schneiderlin :).

Attacking midfielders? Matta has been outstanding and remains a bloody lovely human by all accounts, almost bucking the trend at Chelsea! :p. Bale on the left has had a good, if not brilliant season. Suarez could play here as well and ignoring his dislike of people with dark skin has been utterly outstanding this season, but you could pick him as a forward, his movement this season has been an absolute joy to watch at times. Michu similar, amazing season and won a cup! I would understand people mentioning Walcott and Lennon but while they have enjoyed quite good seasons, still just strike me as not being all that good.

Forwards? Benteke has been brilliant, looks a bit lazy at times but brilliant for his first season in a difficult league for a terrible side. Robin Van Persie has been up to the same tricks as last year. In fact I'm struggling of names up top besides those three... :(.

Guzan is a fair shout, but I still think De Gea and Minolet have been better.

Actually, that is all just off the top of my head, I'm sure if I think about it more I could have more options and I'm sure you all can come up with a few more additions.

I think Henderson has been good in flashes too, but not over all on the season, same reason I didn't say Ferdinand, Kompany, Toure or Vidic straight away.

I actually await DM to rant at me evening dare mention Walcott :D.

Couldn't really decide on centre-backs tbh.

Notable mentions- Michu, Zabaleta, Cazorla, Dawson, Ivanovic, Nastasic(looks quality!) Lambert, Benteke, Lloris, Fellaini.

EDIt- Actually, Ivanovic out, Bassong in!

Lloris! How could I forget him! :cool: He's had a good season, but we all knew that he was that good didn't we?

Fair shout with Cazz at Arsenal, completely forgot him (:() tidy and brilliant too, Silva has been better this season too on that note, both deserve a shout.
 
I don't think Cech has been anything special this season, He's been considerably better than Hart though.

Also; Henderson has looked really good in the games / bits I've seen of him, he looks like he's come on quite a bit.

I know nobody on here rates Hazard....I think he is class!

I didn't think I'd mentioned him?

He's been good for Chelsea, he has, he's shown in flashes what he's capable of, but he's just not quite done it often enough or consistent enough all season. He is good, but he's just had a bit of a slow-ish start so far.

NOT EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND YOU TUMMOTHY.

I agree he's showed hints of the class, his goal against Man U when he just cut it and curled it in to the far corner for example, but to be even considered for team of the year, particularly in a forward position where Mata, Bale, Michu etc. have all been very good...?

^He's in my first eleven....keep up!

Actually, he would be the first one I would change out of mine to be fair, but I don't see a clear replacement...unless you're gonna cheat and put Michu in midfield
