i currentl have Teamgroup Vulcan 2400 Mhz 2 x 4GB in Slot 1 and 3 on my Gigabyte Z97X-SLI Ver 1.3 Motherboard. Bios F* using memory profile XMP 1.3 to get full 2400 Mhz.

Now the 8GB i have is running low on a frequent basis. I have a lot of old gamers programs in background and Cyberlink background programs. Origin,Uplay,Steam,GOG and others as a example.

just recently expanded hard drives from 256gb SSD and 2 x 1TB added external 24TB box interchangable.

now i need stability with this system which is expected so was looking at using teamgroup vulcan again for ddr3 slots 2 and 4.

Question is can i use the following setup without stability issues as pairing slots up .

slot 1 and 3 with 4GB Teamgroup Vulcan
and
slot 2 and 4 with TeamGroup Vulcan 8gb.
Total 24GB. as need dedicated minimum 8gb for one game prefered full 16gb. early release game and heavy on memory.

i already am getting low on memory even before buying game. So need to increase memory.

Now i only got this new pc rig from overclockers uk in april this year 2015.

so reluctant to get rid of perfectly goot 2 x 4Gb DDR3 Teamgroup Vulcan 2400Mhz already just a few months after purchase.

selling it on sights available would be a total loss of money as not a lot of people will buy second hand memory and wont pay much.

now i have used mixed memory upgrades in past but never with newer systems.

so what's the advise here.

take a punch in the guts and loose out on money and just end up needing to buy a full 32gb more than i budgeted for but?

or

buy another 2 x 4 and then which is still only 16gb and with game and background would just meet minimum specs and then later need to get rid of 4 x 4gb if game takes more.

As early release game and also only installed a fraction of programs at this point and still got to upgrade to windows 10 pro 64bit.

which means could loose out on more later.

or

mix 8gb and 4gb as long in matching slots. ?
