It depends on what codecs people use, but Ventrilo has the ability to use a higher bit rate codec than TS2.

I always found Speex 25.9 to be the best compromise between quality and bandwidth usage when I played.

Either of them will sound utterly atrocious if you use anything below about 15kpbs.

The Codec's are normally high in a decent server with good bandwidth...Some of which are hard to find.

Teamspeak is my choice.

why not just download the TS server file and host your own server as and when you need it?? costs nothing and is easy to set up and works fine for me.

not really of any use when you need to host 30+ people on it though as well as play at the same time

We host both TS2 and Ventrilo, Ventrilo is by far our most popular voice comms server as the default codec sounds ace and uses much less bandwidth than the Speex 25.9 codec on TS2.

TS2 has more shiny features to impress the kids but at the end of the day, when your in-game, your not going to be using them anyway KISS springs to mind!

I have only just installed TS2 and had a play with it with my mate. Will also try ventrillo.
Do I have to pay for a server or are there any free ones for like 4-6 players?
