Hi guys, used OCUK a few times over the past 4 years but have only just registered on the forums. Whoopsie. I brought a "Ultima Vortex" GX2 pre-built machine back in 2008 which worked fine up until recently. Basically I got home from work one day to turn the machine on, it started to load up but froze on the motherboard loading screen after 10 minutes I turned the machine off via the power button. Same thing happened when I tried to turn it on again, but this time I powered the machine off after 5 minutes and took the plug out of the wall for 10 minutes. Now the machine won't turn on at all, it doesn't even seem to attempt to turn on just stays off. Am I right in assuming that the most likely culprit is the motherboard? If so how easy are they to replace, this PC was going to be donated to my mother by the end of this year anyway so she didn't have to use my 12 year old PC any more...

Cheers for any help and advice you guys give.

PS. Have tried to look on line for the model of motherboard that system came with but am not having much luck [edit] Found it! Abit IX38 QuadGT Intel X38 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard [/edit]

PPS. Not sure if this is the correct forum, feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place! :)

If no lights or fans then probably psu. But tbh without a donor system you're better off with sending it to the scrap heap
