teeth whitening

After two 15 minute sessions my gums are sore and started bleeding after brushing my teeth this morning. Not good I guess, i'll be ringing the dentists in a bit!

Isnt there a procedure you can do yourself that works using bicarb of soda and hyrdochloric acid or something? I'm sure i've seen it on youtube, you mix tiny bit of both together to make a paste, then you apply it to your teeth and leave with 10-15mins and wash off.

It was definately something like bicarb of soda and HCl.

I smoke and drink and my teethy areperfectly white. The secret is not using those ****** electric brushes and giving them the good old elbow grease.

(not literal elbow grease mind..;))

Well the dentist said (believe it or not) to avoid putting it on my gums. How helpful. But apparantly they said on the phone i'm probably using too much, but I just dont understand how a tiny little drop placed into the bottom of the mould for each tooth will suddenly spread over the surface of each one  Especially on the moulds for the top set of teeth since mavity won't help much there.

I have put 15 minutes on my top teeth, then 15 on my bottom teeth using the Crest Whitestrips Prem Plus 10 Day... It wasn't so bad, I will do another set before I go to bed tonight.

Then after today I shall try 30 minutes. No problems at the moment, and they do look whiter at the moment.

Do you smoke? Tried whitening toothpaste? eg. Colgate whitening, Beverly Hills whitening stuff..

I use the Colgate whitening thooth paste and it does work-ish. I brush my teeth twice a day (thanks parents!) and mine are fine:) I presume all of you do actually brush your teeth:p:eek:

i agree, i dont understand how the electric ones are better. i mean whats stronger then your own force/power.

I thought that all dentists recommend electric toothbrushes? Are they wrong?

Personally, I find using an electric toothbrush cleans my teeth a lot better than manual brushing.

Its been proven that only the electric toothbrushes with the counter-rotational movement are better than a manual brush i.e. the braun/oral b toothbrushes.

The OralB is what I use. Its great.
I could never go back to using manual toothbrushes.

Because that's the problem, it's easy to brush your teeth TOO hard. Electric toothbrushes provide a clinically proven and 100% consistent cleaning method. I hate using manual toothbrushes now...

Yeah my electric toothbrush cleans my teeth better than i could manually. it even attracts plaque upto 1cm away from the brush. :D apparantly.
