One of these got left behind by the previous owners of the house we bought but I'm unsure what I can do with it. I have an air fryer, sorry, convection oven already which I use 3-4 times a week. What's the Optigrill good for? Is it particularly good for some things but not others? Thanks.

Ummm grilling perchance? ;)

Its a chargrill type thing for the home. We've got a similar thing which gets used now and then - easier to clean than the grill in your oven so anything which is going to "spit" when grilled works well & fat drains to container.

Having said that we used it for grilling veg this summer & that worked nicely.

They're pretty much all like the "George Foreman Health Grill" if you remember that - used to be in loads of supermarkets etc. Nothing special & I wouldn't put any expensive meat in it.

here's some ideas :

1. throw in the bin, who wants to use someones elses old grilling cast offs ?
2. try to befriend it. feed it steaks and sausages
3. buy another so you have 2. then post again asking what to use them for
4. what ever you do, don't use it for grilling
5. hook it up to AI and see what it does

The grill plates are removable so you can easily wash / soak / sterilise them. At least they are on my one.

This particular machine makes better toasted sandwiches than any of the other toastie makers and grills I have ever tried.

I love doing bacon in mine, check the plates well, mine tends to loose the non stick coating, I've replaced twice

Free kitchen toy is never a bad start. I use mine mostly for bacon and anything that spatters, fat goes in the tray and the plates come off which is nicer than the oven grill. Toasties are oddly good on it too. Air fryer still wins for chips and ovenish stuff, but for a quick grill its handy. If the coating starts going you can usually buy replacement plates.

We've got one. It does a cracking job of steaks. Very good for toasties and paninis. Great for bacon and sausages too, although that does make a right mess of the grillplates.
