Got a telephone interview for Lloyds TSB for one of their "Telephone Banking Advisor" posts.

It's only weekends because im still at school.

Can anybody give me any tips as i've never done this before.

I used to be in that role until last Sunday.
Trying to remember what they asked in the phone interview, I know it only took about 10mins at most. I think they were mainly checking that I had a good telephone manner so make sure you're very polite and don't use any slang.
I think they asked a question on working as part of a team and how well you worked in one. Also a time when you went out of your way to help someone with something.
There were then some questions based on basic maths and how you'd deal with a customer's query. They were mostly common sense and the maths questions they said it was fine to write down and take your time. Accuracy being more important than speed.
There was also one question where you had to listen to an example then recall some of the information that was stated, but again it was pretty simple.

Good luck with it :)
I'm glad to be rid of the place but it seems an alright place for weekend/student work. :)

Thought i would update this:

I passed my phone interview (don't know how, i was so nervous!) and have been invited to a selection day with face-to-face interview on the 17th of March.

Has anybody got any experience of this and what i should expect? This is my first real job interview and don't know what to expect apart from the obvious questions.

If it's like the one I had at Bridgend.
You'll be there for a full morning or afternoon. You'll have a tour of the place, an interview, a group exercise and a roleplay exercise where you have to answer a phone for a query.
Regarding the roleplay: don't worry about it, where I was, they told you exactly what they wanted and it was all pretty simple and straightforward. It's just a balance query. Key thing is make sure you say 'you're in credit by' or 'you're overdrawn by' :)
It's the Lloyds TSB way :p ideally at least ;)

For the face to face interview it's similar questions as I posted before. A time you went out of your way to help someone, how to deal with an awkward customer and how you'd expect to meet your sales targets.
The place revolves around sales targets so bear that in mind :)

The group exercise will be with the other people on the selection day with you. You'll be assessed on how well you work as a team, whether you acknowledge other people's views and whether you join in and try to contribute basically.
Mine was a few scenarios of people in various life situations (i.e. a newly married couple buying their first home together) and what you'd suggest would be the best product for them. I.e. home insurance, life insurance, pension scheme etc.
Read up a little on the products and you'll be fine :)
Think that's about it. But just try to relax and be yourself.

Good luck :)

Haly beat me to it. For the group excercise we had to give certain credit cards to people in different scenarios (e.g student etc), if you have an opinion make sure you put it forward but don't be over confident.

Good luck :)

I had a callback today to confirm the details of the selection day and the guy told me that the interview would mainly compromise of 3 questions:

Teamworking
Excellent Customer Service

And i forgot the 3rd question as i was in the car on my mobile phone so couldnt write it down :( Haly or anyone else who has recently done this, can you remember what the other question was that they asked you?

Im so nervous and angry at myself for forgetting what the guy said on the phone !

I can't sorry :/ I'd hazard a guess at something to do with sales targets but I'm just basing that off the main 3 things where I worked concentrated on.

Yeah its ok, i'll just go over all the information i have and im sure i'll be able to answer it.

The selection day has actually been put forward to this Thursday so i'll keep you updated on how it went.

Thanks Haly :)
