Telescope advice needed please!

Hello, a friend of mine at work is hoping to buy a telescope but is getting confused by the vast array of models and types etc.
At the moment his main interest is looking at the moon but may move onto planets in the future.
His budget is £150 and would appreciate any advice on types and particular models that will do a good job for him.

for £150 you are looking at a mid-range refractor that has probably only 3inch dia, but should be good for 170-200x zoom (500x advertised )

200x zoom is "enough" for planet watching like Venus, mars, Jupiter and Saturn (depending on there orbit locations).
