Television advice please :)

I've got a 55" Hisense U8K. Mini-led panel but is good enough for me. For some reason Europe get the Vidaa OS which is quite bloated with apps I'll never use and can't be uninstalled either. The US version is Android TV. I didn't realise until after I'd bought it but it wasn't enough of an issue to return it. Has the UK streaming apps but I still use firestick for when I need a VPN.

Annoyingly it was originally mounted on an arm on a corner and anything bigger wouldn't have fit. We've now moved the living room around and put it on its stand and could have gone for a 65".

At over a decade old I doubt he can view most streaming content, some platforms launched after the TV did and the O/S's back then were fairly primitive. I'd be shocked if any of the mainstream apps were still being updated on a TV that old, although it certainly speaks to build quality and is a reason I recommend buying from places like Richer Sounds (6 year warranty via the store) as more modern TV's have a shelf life problem.

Oh crap, I read it as 2022. That'll explain it then! lol My former Panasonic was of similar age and yeah, the smart features were a bit crap.

I've never seen an Android TV that wasn't struggling with the weight of the OS. Not saying they don't exist, but in my sphere Android is consistently too much for the average CPU to handle. If you want a snappy TV viewing experience anyway. Maybe it performs better inside apps.
