Telewest, Calling in an engineer.

Just upgraded from 2mb to 10mb (don't know why, slower if anything) because im planning on setting up a network, decided that wired was the way to go, not a fan of messing with a wireless connection, my question is,
would it be possible to call in an engineer to bring the latest modem down, and get my connection wired upstairs? Has anyone tried this? or do they try and charge?
Was planning on doing this and buying some cat cable and running it outside to where the line comes in at the moment.

Even with it being an upgrade? I figured the modem may be a little outdated now, surfboard 5100.
Will complain about the speeds etc as well and threaten to end the contract.
Failing that, I guess 50 is worth it right? seeing as its quicker than wireless and less hassle when setup?
I could always connect a wireless router to a switch anyway?
