Telewest issue..

Cant find an appropriate forum so thought i would ask you lot!

My telewest digital tv box seems screwed, i can get the menus up and see what is meant to be on telly, but when selecting a channel all i see is blackness. blank screen and no sound.

if i use tvdrive it says its playing, but i see and hear nothing.

Now strangely, if i put the box onto standby then turn it back on, it will flash up the programme on the current channel (probably less than .5 secs) then go blank again.

ive checked the HDMI cable, but its secure in both the TV (LG) and the cable box.

Anyone ever experience this? How did you resolve it?
(ive rang support, they are sending an engineer around on Wednesday.......)

I usually turn it off at the wall for 60 seconds and do a full reboot

When our NTL box acts up thats what we do as well, seems to work.

yup all you can do is reboot it.

shame, reboot does nothing. had it off for 2 hours earlier as well as numerous reboots since then.

maybe try taking the card out of the box and putting it back in ?

And you have literally turned it off at the wall? Not at the box?

literally plug out (for over the 10 seconds the girl on the phone recommended)

boots onto chan 890 which is always blank with 'no information'. changing to any channel gives me the program that should be on, but no sound or visual.

I had this problem yesterday,

It was a maintainence issue, It was fixed promptly.

Not up on TVDrive faults (i got to trial it but the faults after launch aren't something I kept up on). First things first can you test if it outputs by scart ? Just this will tell you if it's actually a dead box or a config issue. If that's not working try CS who will send an RF/II hit to the box and follow the online diagnostic, if it's a fault you're probably looking at 48-72 hours though it may be sooner depending on the area.
