Thinking of chopping my current e36 323i Auto for one of these.

Driven a Cupra-R quite a few times, how are these in comparison (Besides obious power deficit?)

Tuneable?
Reliable?

ta chaps.

I just picked up an 05 one of these up yesterday. I also test drove a Cupra R. The differences as I noticed were that the Cupra R had firmer suspension as you would expect and you could hear the Turbo a bit more. Didnt really test out the brakes. I basically came to the conclusion that there probably wasnt much in it, but the FR would be cheaper to run but not by that much. The FR is the 1.8T Cupra renamed so anything that you could do to that you can do to the FR 1.8T.

The last few 1.8T FRs have 17" Cupra R style wheels and I think a few other bits off the Cupra R which is the version I got

Seen one, my2005, silver, 17" alloys, £7250, 38,000km (around 24k miles)

Bear in mind thats Gibraltar prices, not exactly comparable with UK prices at the best of times.

(New cars are cheaper, 2nd hand cars are usually more expensive)

My brother has an 05 plate one, really nice fast too (not compared it with a Cupra R though). The ride is firm and smooth but not bouncy and uncomfotable like my parents new focus. If I could afford it I'd buy it off him.
He hasn't had any problems with his that I know of just servicing and tyres.
