Tell me about the C class auto boxes

I'm talking about new BMW wheels on the ones in their showroom, like the one in the 320d M Sport with BMW Performance kit they had in there today.

I was not comparing the steering wheel with my own car's, that's just silly.

Again, I did mention this in my post!

Have you test driven those BMW's?

Does a 1 series count? :p

What I mean is the materies and feel of the wheel is more solid, more grippy than the BMW Sport wheel. The BMW wheel has a distinct feel to it, which is nice and I really like it for its chunkiness but the Merc wheel just feels more onepiece and solid.

It's hard to describe without pointing it out in front of the wheels themselves but it's these finer details that grabbed my attention about it.

Seems so.

I only had a brief glimpse around last year in the new c class and thought the plastics were average but certainly not any more after having a good look and feel for an hour.

Even the door handles themselves are rubberised plastic like on the BMWs with leather armrests/surrounds and everything.

This thread confuses me. What on earth is a one peiece feeling wheel? Is the steering wheel in thee car i have supposed to be 13 peice or something?

rubbereised plastic on door handle??

I did say it's hard to describe the feel of this stuff without pointing to it and saying "look, touch this, now touch this, see!?" :p

I could have just said "it feels great" but then some bright spark will always ask "how?"

Are thinking about purchasing one Robbie?

A sports saloon is what I'm going to be looking at in a few months so yeah it's one I'm now considering.

These 'BlueEfficiency' models /seem/ to offer the best balance of performance, comfort, spec and efficiency/economy.

It's not hard to understand though is it surely? the whole wheel feels solid as if it were one piece of solid material wrapped in leather - the BMW "wheel" feels the same but the central area where the buttons and emblem are feel less solid.

Finer details....I just notice those things more.

How? :D:D:D

never been keen on the look of mercs unless theyre the full fat AMG beasts then again dont like the C Class AMG much at all. CL63 or SL AMG tho

The blue efficiency range has only just come out, so is a bit better all round.

Sounds like he is comparing old and new gen to me. I now have a '59 320 M Sport for a week and the wheel in that is grippy and nice.

are loan cars included on the warranty, or are you paying?

Not paying a penny (Well I am as I'm getting some other work done at my cost at the same time)

Although it could end up costing me a fortune as other than the engine I really, really, really like this car.

Not an auto fan, so cant comment. But the new W204 c class really is a excellent car, even as standard in basic guise its well kitted out, feels a good car inside.IMO its a better car than the E90 to look at and its feels a nicer place to be.But thats to be expected, the W204 is quite new, and the E90 is realistically coming to the end of its design cycle, im guessing we'll see a new 3'er in 2 years?

I'd love a manual C250D sport, pity the manual is like stirring porridge, well it was in the C220 elegance.

Did you not think that the foot operated "hand brake" is a bit awkward? I think it is one of the most ridiculous thing about these cars.

I had a foot parking brake in the Toyota Aurion ATX's I hired in Aus and found it pretty cool actually.

I much prefer the auto releasing electronic brake found on Audis like the A6.
Flick it up to put the handbrake on, then start driving and it will auto-release.

Although it must be said, both make handbrake turns near impossible :D
