temp after re-setup

Ok - got my new mobo after the previous one went faulty (Asus Striker Extreme - it froze) and the basic setup went well. But I'm worried about the seemingly high temps. On the desktop - when idling - it's hitting around 45c, but I installed the Crysis demo and just let it run upto where you swim up onto the shore and quit to desktop, and I'm sure I saw the temp dial retreating from nearly 90c. Surely that's not good...the thermal paste is on there, when I booted up it said I had to go into bios and load the default setup - did that - but this is worrying me. Maybe I'm wrong - I don't know - but I'm sure someone else out there is more knowledgable than me on this.

NOTE* I have the Antec gaming case and all fans are set to run at the medium speed...if that makes any difference.

What temperature are you talking about? System temperature, CPU or?

Ah - sorry - I believe it was the cpu temp.

I would remove the heatsink, wipe off the old thermal paste and put some new stuff on it.

Whats your spec!
Download Prime 95 to stress test and see what your temps are, it may be the case your cpu fan may need adjstment or like fobose suggested check your HSF.
