Just replaced my AC Freezer 64 Pro with a AC Freezer Xtreme

Struggled to get the thing on as its not the best fitting system in my opinion, but bios is reading 70C temp as is core temp and speed fan.

Stripped cooler back down cleaned up took motherboard out of case and re-fitted yet im still getting the same temps

any ideas as to what the hells going on with it? or should i just get rid and replace it with something better

CPU is not clocked either

Cheers Craig

Were your temps lower before fitting the AC Freezer?

If your HS is seated properly and working ok (Fan speed etc) and you have nothing working away in the background causing the temps to rise you may want to try a BIOS upgrade as this can sometimes fix these issues.

If none of the above is the problem you may have a faulty sensor on the mb or your chip just runs hot.

Additional: Do the temps increase under load?

Refitted the freezer 64 and temps have dropped back down to 50c still not great but better.

After rechecking the freezer xtreme it seems its not contacting the cpu properly will have another look later.

Will check bios its was updated not long back

Had another go tonight, fresh thermal paste, refitted, checked temps, again 70C

Took cooler off, paste only on the sides of the cooler plate and not in the center

Hmmm thinks it may need lapping

That's unlucky - and a pain in the ass to keep on reseating i'm sure.

Does the cpu look noticebly uneven? If not i would have a hard look at the HS and the way it's fitting to the MB and cpu.

My Akasa has caused my mb to bow but luckily the connection to the cpu is solid. If yours is doing something similar and the 4 HS connectors aren't all evenly connected that could be causing your uneven conact.

However, if your CPU does prove to be substantially uneven you may be able to get a replacement - may be worth trying before voiding your warranty? (Unless you were going to lap it eventually anyway.)

Good luck with it.
