Temperature Difference between Cores

Probably been well documented somewhere before but I'm not having much luck finding anything solid.

Is this any problem ? My currently installed E6600 seems to be running about 4 sometimes 5 degrees differnent between Core 0 and Core 1.

Now I'm sure the IHS is seated correctly and the same CPU read much closer temps when I used it in a DS3, wondered if thats anything to do with it.

Should I just forget about it and stop being so paranoid, or try and remedy the problem as its sure to end in TOTAL disaster ? :p

Thanks

Could mean that the IHS over 1 core isn't as flat ie making good contact with the HSF as the other. If you're worried then remove and check the contact of the CPU to the HSF.

Core 0 will be warmer as it Windows will normally get it to most of the work, also I read that Core 0 on C2D have a slightly higher voltage put through it to ensure stability.

Well I sorted it, now getting 0-2 degrees difference between cores and a drop of about 4 degrees too!

I took off my Tuniq, Re-lapped it so it was Properly flat, brasso'd it to a high shine, reapplied the TIM and everything very carefully, and tightened down my Tuniq a little more than it was previously.

Bingo, now idling @ 36/35c and Load @ 51/50c @ 3.6Ghz

Nah Windows balances evenly across both cores so it's not that. You can see this with any Task Manager/Process Explorer tool.

I blame it on my heatsink being so darn heavy that the top side is being lifted away from the IHS.

I noticed a difference too of about 3 degrees on my E6600.
Seached the 'net for info and the general opinion regards this is normal

Glad it's sorted, these little things always bug me to be honest even though others say there is nothing wrong :)
