Temperature Probe Placement

Hi Guys

I recently bought a Aerocool V12XT Dual Bay Touch Panel Fan Controller and was wondering where the best place to put the CPU probe would be? My CPU is water cooled so has a water block on it. From what I searched around for, its a bad idea to place the probe in between block and CPU. Other suggestions include placing it between the CPU pins. This seems a ridiculous idea to me. Any help would be appreciated. And yes I know that none of the probes will give and as accurate reading as a program on the computer but it looks cool haha and allows me to set temperature alarms etc.

i stuck mine on the back of the motherboard behind the cpu socket
