Hi,

Im after a little advice with the temperature readings I am getting using Speed Fan 4.38 and Coretemp 0.99.4

Oc'd i7 920 D0 @ 3.7, on a Bloodrage board with a Triton 88 cooler and after about an hour of prime 95 small FTT I get 2 different temp redings from both programs. Im worried as I dont want to cook anything If I push the cpu any faster.

Speedfan = 63c

Coretemp = 76c

Does anyone know which program is correct, or can reccomend a way of verifying the readings?

I would trust Core Temp, you can try Real Temp and HW Monitor and see how they compare.
Speedfan might be reading a different sensor were Core Temp will read the actual core diodes.

I get that problem with speedfan. Currently (using media player and internet so pretty much idle lol) speedfan is showing around 38C but real temp and everest show around 32C... Im definately trusting everest over speedfan. Dont know why its temps are off, they just dont seem to be very accurate for some reason

EDIT, just downloaded core temp too and thats the same as real temp and everest... definately speedfan thats wrong lol, dont trust it

This sort of confirms my worries. Either the Triton 88 isnt as good as I thought it would be, or I have made a mess of seating the heatsink with the TIM (which is probably the case).

Guess ill be taking it apart again :p

Thanks again for the help :)

The i7 chips are incredibly hot, especially if you're running with HT on! That temp is fine, especially since it's overlcocked, try to keep it under 85C and it'll be grand :)
